                                                                                                         Hey lovelies,
I am FINALLY back with a new outfit post, yay! I am not actually that keen on these photos but what can you do? you may have also noticed two things.. One I've had a rather beaut looking blog makeover courtesy of my creative twin Ally, and two being that after months and months of saying I wanted to get a proper domain for my blog, I've finally got one. So.. I am now officially www.vanzthemachine.co.uk (with no extra e or blogspot.co.uk at the end). Very exciting times!

Cropped Jumper - New Look/ Ripped Jeans - Topshop/ Beanie - eBay/ Duster Coat - Primark/
Shoes - New Look

I got these ripped jeans from Topshop back in September. I got them on a whim as I browsed through the sale section. I think I got them for £10 or £15 which is such a steal! at the time I remember thinking they were a little too out there for me, but I have since gotten SO much wear out of these bad boys. My style has changed dramatically since starting uni and these are such a key feature in my wardrobe. I am not a big fan of my legs so I wasn't too keen on the rips at first but now I am sort of getting over my leg issues and embracing it all. These really have started off my love for ripped jeans, I'll definitely be blogging about my ASOS ones that I just can't seem to get enough of.

The cropped jumper is from one of the sales my local New Look had a while ago. The colour is such a gorgeous shade of blue and not a colour I am used to wearing (aside from on my nails). I really love the high neck of it too. I like to pair it with some of my most recently purchased skirts but rather like it paired with jeans. We'll also talk about how I am in LOVE with beanies.. Okay, literally I do not stop wearing them. This one comes so handy as I am forever having a bad hair day and it's better that I let the world know rather than people pointing out the obvious.. Plus, it was only £1.99. I won't really go into detail on the duster because I want to save it for another post but can you believe I got it for the amazing price of £7.. This is why I love you so bloody much Primark!

Have you picked up any amazing steals at the moment?

Lifestyle // Lying To Make Yourself Look Better?

                                                                                                                     Hey beauts,
We're all liars, whether we like to admit it or not. We all lie.. It can be anything from a small lie such as pretending you aren't full to get some of that delicious looking cake for desert or it can be something bigger such as not completely telling the truth about the grades you got in school or college which just so happens to have made it into the Metro's list of 10 lies we all say to make ourselves look good which was conducted by intotheblue.co.uk

I thought I'd join in on the discussion and give a round up of my own personal top 6 lies. I would have thought with the fact that I watch Pretty Little Liars and we all know that on that show all lies are uncovered that I'd be a little hesitant to lie.. Clearly not.

My Top 6 Lies

1.) I have the worst habit of stretching the truth about compliments I've received.. Oh, so a stranger said she loves my coat? I can't necessarily remember what she exactly said, so we'll go with something else..

2.) Most of the time I'd say I'm on time for plans. Occasionally (maybe more than occasionally) I'll let my alarm snooze for a little longer and have a frantic rush when really and truly my bus is due in the next 10 minutes and I haven't even had a chance to think about whether the weather goes with my outfit or even what choice of lipstick I'm going for. So.. When I get that dreaded call from a friend to say they've arrived a little bit earlier than planned I'll tell a little fib that I'm just about to leave the house. Surely I can't be the only one who does this?

3.) I know a lot of us are guilty for this next lie because it's something I have a discussion on a lot. Sometimes we'll make things look greater than they actually were, especially on Snapchat & Instagram, when really and truly it wasn't as great as we've all made it out to be. Filters help contribute to this.

4.) Maybe this one isn't much of a lie? I love a good desert after a meal but most of the time I am so full from my main meal that I really have no clue how I'm going to fit anything else in? I do it often and it's one lie I'll openly admit I won't stop doing.. Yes, I am full but I'll always make room for desert whether I've got the space or not.

5.) Being in university I am so focused on getting my degree and that means studying and actually leaving a decent enough time to get my assignments in.. Occasionally (clearly my favourite word) someone will ask me how the studying is going or how far into my assignment I am.. Most of the time my response will be a little far stretched... "Yeah, so good. Just finishing up on my reference list" when really and truly I've just about got onto my methodology, ha.

6.) I am a lover of shopping. Always have and always will be. I wouldn't say I'm one to spend crazy amounts on clothes and makeup (LOL) but all I'm saying is Mum, I wasn't exactly honest when I said that top and lipstick were such bargains.

I had so much fun thinking of my top lies. I honestly try not to lie much as honesty really is the best policy but some things we lie about are absolutely hilarious.

What is your most common lie told?

Lifestyle // Nineteen Things Being Nineteen Personally Taught Me

by , in
                                                                                                              Hey lovelies,
I write this post still coming to terms with the fact I am no longer a teenager, but a young adult. My birthday has now come and gone and I am officially the big 2-0. I remember the start of March last year, the little eighteen year old me who loved to tell the world how independent she felt everyday. I can't lie, I honestly dreaded what nineteen would bring as I associated it with boringness and a struggle of being between a teenager and an 'adult'. I had nothing to worry about as nineteen was a truly wonderful age. There were many good and bad chapters and opportunities for me to grow as a person and as cliche as it may sound, I really feel as if it was the age of finding myself. Yet again, I am anxious but also eager for what twenty will bring for me.

Here are nineteen things being nineteen personally taught me...

1) I will always have to forfeit in ring of fire when I pick the last king and gag at my failed attempt of downing the beautiful concoction of drink in the middle, while everyone sings "We like to drink with Vanese, cause Vanese is our mate. And when we drink with Vanese, she drinks it down in 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... Better luck next time!

2) It's actually okay that I haven't fully got my sh*t together. Everything takes time. Sorry to my 13 year old self who thought she'd have started her long term relationship with R-Pattz by now *shifty emoji eyes*

3) Chicken nuggets will always be apart of me. That is all.

4) Nineteen has taught me that it's honestly so acceptable to cry for absolutely no reason. If anything, it feels odd not having a little cry here and there.

5) Slut dropping is my party trick?

6) Nineteen really wasn't much of a step up from being eighteen.

7) Vodka will NEVER be my friend. I raise my hand to being personally victimised by it...

8) I've learnt that it is physically impossible to please everyone and I really do have to come to terms with that.

9) I'm not actually that eager anymore to be 20. #toolate

10) I stress out in way too many situations. Situations that require zero amount of stressing at all. Regular chill time is a must.

11) Procrastination is in my blood.

12) I really enjoy having my small circle of friends. Life isn't about continuing meaningless friendships just to keep the numbers growing.

13) Relationships aren't all they are cracked up to be, especially when they are rushed. I learnt that the hard way earlier this year and it really sucked. It's no fun forcing something that just isn't meant to be. I'm still young and when the right person comes along I'll know. For now, I'll just enjoy the single life.

14) It's amazing to feel empowered by other females!

15) Picking a colour of lipstick for the day will always be one of the hardest decisions.

16) Blogging makes me so incredibly happy and I am so glad to have stuck with it for over three years.

17) I am such an awkward person. I really don't do it on purpose but it's pretty much like violent diarrhea... I just can't stop. (WHAT?)

18) Anxiety is something that affects me on a day to day basis but it will NEVER define me.

19) Loving yourself is one of the greatest things.

I loved writing this post. Nineteen really has taught me a lot and made me come to the realisation about a lot of things. I am interested to know one thing your age has personally taught you?

March Wishlist!

by , in
                                                                                            Hey beauts,
My blogging has well and truly been all over the place these past few months. I'm hoping that with the second half of university well underway, I'll be able to balance everything properly this time round. Anyway, strangely even with my birthday this coming Thursday, there isn't really much I want. (Probably because I am a broke student and food is of high importance lulz.) So here goes my rather delicious current wants...
March Wishlist!

1) Black Wide-Brim Hat - Primark
It's actually impossible to describe my love for this hat. Rather a few weeks ago, I visited my local Primark a few too many times in one week. I saw this hat and there was something about it that I really liked, but at the same time.. I don't always have the best of luck with hats I like (#bigheadproblems) anyway, Ally decided to try it on and it looked so gorgeous on her. I got my favourite and only trusty fedora from Primark last summer, so it's only right I invest in this one too.. Right?

2) iPhone 6 Cat Case - Zazzle
A whole two years since I joined the iPhone hype has come round so quickly. No matter how many times I'm told I should look into getting a Samsung for my next upgrade, the more I fall in love with the fact my mind is set on an iPhone 6. My 4s has been such a little beauty to mother these past two years, but it's most certainly time to see how strong iPhone 6's selfie game is. I found this case and thought why not get something that best describes me, ha. Plus, the fact I personalised it to say my name is awesome.

3) Grill Brogues - Jones Bootmaker*
With Spring only a few days away. It's time for me to start thinking about the pretty shoes I'll want to invest in. I think I have such a lovely selection of shoes at the minute, that will be amazing to go with all the skirts and dresses I plan on wearing. I saw these beauties online and want need them in my life. I am really into the grey - even though brown is an option too. You can honestly never go wrong with a good pair of brogues.

4) Brow Zings - Benefit
It's honestly time I get my brow game together. Every time I open Instagram, I cry a little bit over how incredible everyone's eyebrows look. It's time for me to have fab eyebrows too. I've seen quite a few people using this and the reviews have been really good. So now I must get my little mitts on this and watch it hopefully work its magic.

5) Dance All Night/Sleep All Day Pillowcases - eBay
I remember seeing someone tweet about these a while ago. This pretty much sums up my life.. My rather bad dance moves to Beyonce then my rather interesting sleeping habit choices. University has made me really get into homeware and these are definitely on the top of the list.

6) Rouge Edition Velvet 'Nude-ist' - Bourjois
I am going to make a big statement right now.. Bourjois are currently my favourite makeup brand for lipstick and I don't care who knows! I've built up quite the collection of Rouge Edition Velvet lippies but I was after more of an everyday. Quite a few weeks ago while *ahem* looking in Boots,  discovered one I never knew they even did it's called '09 Happy Nude Year' I literally feel like Kylie Jenner everyday wearing it. Plus, topped with my Rimmel lip liner. *emoji heart eyes* Anyway, I am currently loving nudes a lot and Ally has Nude-ist, so I need to get my hands on all the nudes Bourjois offer. Side note - as someone with dark skin it's been such a struggle in the past to find a nude I love that goes with my skin complexion. So 100 points to you Bourjois you little babes.

7) Warehouse Soft Peg Pants - Asos
In University I am surrounded by some of the most well dressed ladies, if I do say so myself. Especially, my housemates. A while ago my lovely housemate Rebecca *shoutouts* went out for a rather fancy meal and her outfit was everything. She'd paired an amazing turtled necked cropped jumper with the most incredible peg trousers (I think they were peg trousers anyway) then.. to top it off added a gorgeous caramel coloured coat to make me even more jealous. From that day, I have been on the hunt for the perfect peg trousers and honestly, Asos are providing me with tons of inspiration.
